You can use this for:
Client-specific updates for account managers
Agency-wide updates for your whole team
Daily, weekly or monthly summaries for a quick bird’s-eye view of performance
Step 1: Authorize Hiro in Slack
In your Hiro dashboard, open the Beta tab.
Click the Slack Notifications section.
Go to the Connect Slack sub-tab.
Press Authorize Slack.
A new window will appear requesting permission for Hiro Analytics to access your Slack workspace.
Complete the authorization flow and click Allow when prompted.
Return to Hiro and press Confirm Authorization to finalize the connection.
A green success banner will confirm that Slack has been connected successfully.
✅ Tip: You can verify the connection by checking your Slack workspace. The Hiro Analytics app should appear under Installed Apps.
Step 2: Add Hiro to Slack Channels
To send notifications to specific channels, make sure the Hiro app is present in them.
Public Channels: Hiro should automatically be available in public channels.
Private Channels: You’ll need to add it manually.
To add Hiro to a private channel or if it's not present in a public channel:
Open the desired channel.
Click the three dots at the top → View Channel Details.
Go to the Integrations tab → Add an App.
Select Hiro Analytics → Add.
Once added, Hiro can post automated notifications in that channel.
Step 3: Schedule Notifications
Go to the Schedule Notifications tab in Hiro and click Add Notification. You’ll have two options:
Option A: Client Update
Used to send a performance report for a single client.
Select Client Update and press Next.
Choose the client account and give the notification a clear title (for example: Home Goods Co – Trailing 7 Days).
Add tables to include:
Metrics Table
Campaigns Table
Flows Table
For each table:
Choose a time period (Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Month-to-Date, or Year-to-Date).
Select which fields (metrics) to display, such as:
Total Store Revenue
% of Total Store Revenue from Flows
% of Total Store Revenue from Campaigns
Add subtitles or date ranges if desired.
Save each table and review the live preview.
Once tables are set, click Next.
Choose the frequency (Daily, Weekly, Monthly) and time.
Select the Slack channel from the dropdown.
Channels labeled “Hiro not in channel” will require adding the app first.
Send a Preview to Slack to verify.
Press Save Notification to finalize.
Editing or Duplicating:
You can edit saved notifications anytime. To create templates for other clients, duplicate an existing one and update the client info.
Option B: Agency Update
Used for an overview across all clients in your agency.
Click Add Notification → Select Agency Update.
Choose whether to include all clients or select specific ones.
Add a Metrics Table (agency reports only support metric tables).
Set your time period and fields.
Optional: Add a subtitle and choose sorting order (for example: sort by Total Attributed Revenue – % Change Ascending).
Save the table and preview.
If the report exceeds Slack’s column limit, it will automatically send as a CSV attachment.
Set your frequency and delivery time.
Select the Slack channel and send a preview.
Save the notification once confirmed.
Step 4: Manage or Remove Notifications
To edit: Click into any existing notification, make changes, and save.
To duplicate: Press Duplicate to reuse the setup for another client.
To delete: Click the trash icon next to the notification.
Step 5: Disconnect Slack (if needed)
If you ever need to remove the integration:
Go to the Connect Slack tab.
Click Disconnect Slack.
💡 Notes
Slack has a table column limit on Agency wide notifications. As a result, large tables that have more than 6 metrics selected will automatically export as CSVs in your Slack channel.
Troubleshooting
If you run into any issues:
Double-check your Slack authorization.
Ensure the correct channel is selected and permissions are enabled.
Add the Hiro App integration into the channel you want to use if you do not see it in the dropdown menu for channel selection and refresh the Hiro page.
