How to Use the Prospect to First Purchase Funnel (Cohort View) in Hiro

The Prospect to First Purchase Funnel (Cohort View) helps you understand how you’re converting new subscribers into first-time customers.

Updated over 4 months ago

What does this view show?

This tool displays conversion rates and revenue for new subscribers over 30, 60, or 90 days — helping you measure the effectiveness of your welcome offer, pop-ups, and list-building efforts.

You’ll be able to answer:

  • How many subscribers made their first purchase?

  • When did they purchase (e.g., Day 0, Day 3, Day 10)?

  • Which channel or message type influenced the conversion?

  • What value did those conversions generate?

How do I use this view?

  1. Select a time period (e.g., November 1–30, 2024)

  2. Choose a conversion window (30, 60, or 90 days)

  3. Apply filters by:

    • Subscription source (e.g., a specific pop-up or Klaviyo form)

    • Source detail (e.g., A/B test name or campaign tag)

    • Profile properties (e.g., A/B test variant identifiers)

What do the metrics mean?

  • Prospect Subscribers
New subscribers who had never purchased before and signed up during your selected period.

  • Sub Converted
The number of those prospect subscribers who made a first purchase within the selected timeframe (e.g., 30 days).

  • Sub Conversion Value
The total revenue from those first-time orders — regardless of attribution.

  • Attributed to Klaviyo
The number of converted subscribers whose orders were attributed to Klaviyo (e.g., from flows or campaigns).

  • Attributed Conversion %
Percentage of total subscribers that converted and were attributed to Klaviyo.

  • Attributed Revenue
Revenue value of those Klaviyo-attributed conversions.

Can I see which flows or campaigns drove conversions?

Yes. Check the “By channel and message type” box to view:

  • Breakdown by flows vs. campaigns

  • Attribution split between email and SMS

  • Performance of specific flows (e.g., welcome or abandonment)

Most first-time purchases tend to be attributed to automated flows.

What does the “Conversions by Day” chart show?

This chart visualizes when subscribers made their first purchase:

  • Day 0 conversions are from people who subscribed and purchased immediately

  • Use the "Exclude Day 0" toggle for a clearer view of post-subscription behavior

  • The graph shows how quickly conversions drop off over time (usually after Day 10–15)

This helps you determine how aggressive your welcome offer needs to be and how much time you have to convert new subscribers.

How do I interpret the “% of cohort converted” chart?

This shows cumulative conversion percentage:

  • For example: If 27% of your cohort converted by Day 0, and that grows to 30% by Day 15 — you know that most conversions happen early, with only a small incremental increase after the first few days.

What does the revenue chart show?

It mirrors the conversion chart but shows cumulative revenue:

  • You might see 89% of revenue generated by Day 0

  • By Day 15, that often rises to 99% of total revenue

  • Very little revenue is typically generated after Day 30

This highlights how important early conversions are in your funnel.

Can I verify which flows are driving revenue?

Yes. Scroll to the bottom to see which flows were attributed to conversions in your selected cohort. You’ll typically see:

  • Welcome series

  • Abandonment flows

This is a great way to validate whether your automation strategy is working.
